There’s a spark (In the darkness)
I wanna hold it (Can’t resist)
I see the wind (Sun shining)
Gimme light ( don’t burn my skin)
Maybe I could be that wind
Brush across ur face and chin
(But I don’t know)
I see the light (Eyes shine so bright)
I try to hold it (Slipped just like mist)
Caught in the rain again (Seed from the dirt)
I missed that light (Back to the darkness)
Maybe I could be that light
If I could I would tonight
I guess that’s fine...

Black is beautiful. Inside outside. This band is superb. As a huge Sabbath fan I love the low tuned riffs, as well as the hardcore speed moments, short as they are: but it's exactly that which keeps it so damn interesting. Also love the interplays full of sweetness or speeches about black culture and being black within white domination. Still some things to learn. This is the real life in music form. Let's celebrate. Wonderful dramatic opening, the voice of a black woman in all her honesty, vulnerability and openess. And then one of the fiercest tracks of Zulu, total hardcore: 'Now they are through with me', full of twists and turns, and suddenly ending in a kind of soul-track, brilliant! This is 21st century music at it's best. The end lecture is dramatic and disturbing, spoken again by a black woman. Makes you think. Hesperus
Bluesy protopunk in the great Detroit tradition by the city's own the Stools, with dashes of the Stooges, Negative Approach, and the Gories. Bandcamp New & Notable May 25, 2023
